The history
From the Roman colonization to the Middle Ages to the Modern Age, the evolution of the two provinces revolves around events that saw them as protagonists throughout the peninsula. Myriad architectural jewels are perfectly preserved: churches, monuments, historical palaces, theaters and museums. A concentration of history, culture, art and tradition, also witnessed by the many civilizations and cultures that have lived throughout the territory, therefore the region being “ an open-air museum.
This land gives the typical fruits of Mediterranean crops, including olive trees and the vine.
Among the main products are the tender Ascolana olive and the Rosso Piceno Superiore wine, whose production is exclusive to the province and has its heart in the ridge of the valley of Tronto. The homonymous Strada del Rosso Piceno Superiore connects Offida to San Benedetto del Tronto, through the evocative historical villages of Ripatransone and Acquaviva Picena. Along the coast you will find the famous seaside resorts of Cupra Marittima, Grottammare and San Benedetto del Tronto, and further north those of Pedaso and Porto San Giorgio. San Benedetto del Tronto is the second largest fishing port in the Adriatic and in Italy.
The provinces of Ascoli Piceno & Fermo
The provinces are: Ancona (capital), Ascoli Piceno, Fermo, Macerata and Pesaro Urbino.
Bordered to the east by the Adriatic Sea, the Picena land is the most southern of the Marche and borders on three regions: Abruzzo (province of Teramo) to the south, Lazio (province of Rieti) in the south-west and Umbria (province of Perugia) in the west.
In Le Marche region, every location is nestled between soft lines of the ancient hills, where nature is the guardian of time.
